97% of the people of Pakistan are Muslims, of which 77% are Sunnis and 20% are Shiites.  About 3% of the population are followers of other religions.  The largest religious minorities in the country are Christians and Hindus. [1]

 The Federal Republic of Pakistan is the fifth most populous country in the world and more populous than Brazil, according to 2020 estimates, with a population of more than 220 million.  It is a federal parliamentary republic and consists of four states and four federal territories.  The Federal Republic of Pakistan is diverse both linguistically and ethnically, as well as geographically.  In September 2015, the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Pakistan issued a ruling declaring Urdu the official language of the country.
